Domino Theatre presents Blithe Spirit
BLITHE SPIRIT, by Noel Coward, is Domino's Christmas show. Coward's wit was at its peak when he wrote this comedy of manners.
To research his next novel Charles hires Madame Arcati to conduct a séance, which has unexpected results. A ghost appears and all of a sudden Charles has two wives with which to contend, his present wife Ruth and a ghostly Elvira , his former wife , neither of whom are happy with their present circumstances . Hilarity ensues in this classic comedy.
Blithe Spirit aside from The Mousetrap holds the record for the longest run in the West End for a non-musical. Blithe Spirit has enjoyed successful runs and remounts on Broadway and the West End and just finished a very successful run at Stratford this summer.
Gord Love is directing and he has assembled a stellar cast. Terry Wade plays Charles, Helen Bretske his wife Ruth and Amie Bello his former wife Elvira. Rounding out the cast are the talented Dympna McConnell as the eccentric Madame Arcati, Peter Aston and Naomi Ballance are the friends invited for the sťance. Finally a Domino regular, 88-year-old Mary Barclay, plays the maid and Mary may steal the show.
BLITHE SPIRIT opens November 28 and runs Thursday to Saturday until December 14th. Tickets are $20.00 and are available at the Grand Theatre, 613-530-2050 (www.kingstongrand.com). Tickets are also available at the door the night of the performances at 7:30, curtain is at 8:00.
Come and enjoy this classic play in our new theatre at 52 Church Street in historic Portsmouth Village.
