Fall Into Shakespeare Workshop

Fall Into Shakespeare Workshop with Will O'Hare

Join theatre director and teaching artist Will O’Hare for two lively workshops at Domino Theatre this fall. These sessions are designed for actors, directors, and theatre enthusiasts who want to get hands-on with Shakespeare’s text. Whether you’re preparing a monologue, exploring a scene, or simply curious about the plays, you’ll leave with practical tools to make Shakespeare’s words your own.

Workshop One: Developing a Shakespeare Toolbox
Sunday September 28, 2025. 1:30 - 4:30pm. Register Here
Location: Domino Theatre Mainstage & Lounge, 52 Church St, Kingston Ontario

Focus: Tools, Not Rules - Working with Macbeth

In this three-hour workshop, participants will build a toolkit for performing Shakespeare. Using the Folger edition of Macbeth as our anchor text, we’ll explore how verse structure, rhythm, and imagery can unlock character and story. Expect to be on your feet, speaking, and sharing in a supportive group setting.

The emphasis is on active participation: everyone will have the chance to speak and experiment with text.

Workshop Two: Staging Shakepeare
Sunday November 2, 2025. 1:30 - 4:30pm. Registration to open October 6.
Location: Domino Theatre Mainstage & Lounge, 52 Church St, Kingston Ontario

Focus: Owning the Stage - Shakespeare Across the Canon

This session broadens the scope beyond a single play. We’ll draw from a range of Shakespeare’s works to explore how language gives us staging clues and performance possibilities.

As in Workshop One, the focus is on speaking and sharing text in the room – discovering how Shakespeare’s words, rhythm, and imagery connect us to each other and to the audience.

Workshop Fee:

  • Domino Theatre Members: $10 per workshop
  • Non-Members: $15 per workshop

Workshop space is limited and each workshop will be capped at 24 participants. If the event is full, please add yourself to the waitlist and we will contact you if any spots open up. If you have any questions about the workshop, please contact: astonw@queensu.ca.
