Welcome to Moseyville, on Getaway Island, where the police station is also the museum, the tourist bureau and the ice-cream shop. Jesse, the police chief is about to retire and just wants to get there without any trouble. Sam, his deputy, hopes to become chief — after all, he's lived here all his life and hardly ever gets lost anymore.

Jesse's hope for a quiet coast into retirement isn't looking too promising, though. First Fred, a local farmer finds a body in his field—or does he? Then two couples arrive by ferry from the mainland. They're just passing through, or so they think until the discover that the bridge off the other side of the island that appears on the map doesn't actually exist and the only way off the island is tomorrow's ferry back to where they came from.

Two of the visitors, Ben and Ella, are innocent enough; Ella hopes to find an interesting magazine story on the island. She thinks she might have found one in Mildred, the old lady who sits around the police station waiting for her dead husband Earl—until the more interesting story of the body in Fred's field comes along. But Frank and Honey are a different matter. They've just robbed a bank, and Getaway Island isn't the sort of getaway they had in mind.

Island Getaway premiered at Lennox Community Theatre in Selby in 2013.
